Amr El-Helw is currently a Software Engineer at Google. Before that, he worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Pivotal, where he is part of the Query Processing team. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2012.

He enjoys reading about – and possibly contributing in – various computer- and technology-related topics, ranging from new technologies, to interesting websites, to useful software products or online services, to even just linking to interesting articles that he has come across. He has a special interest in free and open-source software and services, so don’t be surprised if he writes about these quite often.
