A few months ago, I blogged about Jorge Cham (the cartoonist behind the online comic strip Piled Higher and Deeper aka PhD Comics) coming to the University of Waterloo for a talk and book signing. If you’re a fan of the comics, you probably know that Jorge and the crew have been working on a movie adaptation of the comics for a while. Here is the trailer:

I just came back from watching the movie Surrogates, starring Bruce Willis. Even though it was a bit short, it was very entertaining and engaging (at least for me). The events take place in a future where people can use robots to do whatever they want to do in real life. (more…)

So I have recently started watching the TV show “Heroes“. I’ve been hearing about it for more than 6 months now, but never really got to watching it until about a month ago. The concept is pretty interesting: Ordinary people discover that they have special abilities, and how each of them deals with it. You can look at it as a toned-down version of X-men. (more…)

Two days ago, I saw the last installment of the Bourne series (The Bourne Ultimatum). It was an excellent movie, very well done, intelligent, great action, great camera.

However, I just noticed something. There seems to be something special about names starting with the initials “J.B.”. I mean, think about it: James Bond, then Jack Bauer, and now Jason Bourne. This cannot be a coincidence! I’m not sure if this is a well known fact or something, but I certainly would love to know if there is something special and intentional about the choice of names.
